The Girly Huntress Known As Tammy-Jean
A Little Bit of Background
I grew up in Lickskillet, Alabama... Population... well, I think the name says it all. I have a Bachelor's of Business Admistration in Accounting which I recieved in 2007. Everyone who meets me at first glance finds it hard to believe that I hunt, fish, and drive a big ole' dodge truck.. until I open up my mouth and my "accent" comes out! Apparently it's pretty strong, or thick as some have called it. I have 2 gorgeous little girls! Dixie-Sue who turned 6 on Sept. 18th, 2011, and my little Bonnie-Blue who turned 5 on Sept. 1st, 2011; and of course I can't leave out my other baby.. my Walker Hound Dog named Layla that we rescued from the shelter. She is gonna make me a great huntin dog when I'm done trainin her. I have been very blessed to have a great little family to call my own! We now live in Northeast Alabama. In August of 2010 I was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma Cancer.
2 Months Before Diagnosis In Remission December 2010
I was told I was in remission by Thanksgiving 2010. However, it did end up coming back in late February 2011. But I am now back in remission and have been since April 2011. Everyday is a struggle still, but each day the struggle gets a little less hard! I am just thankful that I am able to still enjoy my life, thanks to the second and even third chance I have been given. On January 15th 2011 I held and put together the 1st Annual Tammy Hartline's 10k/5k Hope~Faith~Cure Lymphoma Awareness Race in Gadsden, AL. I am a very energetic and active woman, which is something that not even Cancer can change!
Now It's Time for the Good Stuff
I have been huntin and fishin pretty much since I was old enough to walk. My daddy used to take me squirell huntin with him, and my uncle would take me racoon and predator huntin. If I wasn't huntin when I was little, it was because we were at Weiss Lake in Leesburg, AL. tryin to catch us some fish! Then as I became a teenager I found other interests and turned into a "sissy" girl (my daddy's words, not mine..lol) and started Cheerleading and Gymnastics. However, I like to think I've proved my daddy and everyone else wrong who thinks that you can't be a hardcore huntress and a girly girl at the same time!
I now hunt with friends, family or even by myself sometimes. I hunt dove, geese, turkey, and duck with my black TriStar 20ga shotgun or with my Benelli Super Black Eagle II 12ga Camo Shotgun, which tends to kick so bad still it can about knock me out of the duck boat!! I hunt deer with my Browning 22-250 rifle. I also hunt deer with my Matthew's Mission Craze Bow which I am now in love with! It's so fun to shoot, even just practicing! I would love to harvest one of everything that has a season on it! I love huntin any kind of animal and can't wait to harvest new animals for me, such as wild hogs, coyotes, elk... anything I get the opportunity to pretty much!
