Danner Pronghorn Boots

When I received a pair of Danner Pronghorn boots, I thought, "How appropriate", as my first hunt of the season was to hunt Pronghorn Antelope. This would be a great test.

I wore them off and on the weeks before my hunt out west, to break them in. Turns out it wasn’t really necessary, as they conformed to my feet without any blisters or other foot problems forming, as often happens with new boots. I was now ready to wear them for a real hunt.

Early September found me in the rolling hills of Wyoming, and later that same month, in Montana, both times in hopes of bagging a pronghorn. I did some hard and heavy hunting every day; from before sun-up to after sundown, and my boots were just like an extension of my body. How comfortable they were!

Even a mishap of walking through a muddy waterhole in search of a windblown ground blind that decided to take a swim, had me concerned that these wet boots would have my feet cold and wet, as it was a chilly morning with temps only in the upper 30’s. Not to worry. After walking in muck to retrieve my wayward blind, one inch to the top of my boots, I thought the mud would suck me down and not let go of my feet. When I finally made it out, the pride I had in always keeping my boots clean, was gone. I realized this was no longer important, but rather knowing my feet were still completely dry and warm was the best thing I could hope for. Danner Pronghorns are water resistant and hold up to much abuse, thanks to Gore-Tex® which is the leader in waterproof, breathable membrane technology.

These boots not only worked great during the early fall season, but I also plan to wear them during spring turkey season, as they are uninsulated. This is a good thing when temperatures rise into the 80’s and 90’s. The Pronghorns kept my feet plenty cool and dry through out a long days worth of pounding the earth and I’m sure they’ll perform the same for you.
