"Wow" the fog is so thick there is no way I will see any deer this morning, I thought as I went outside. Today is Tuesday November 18th and they are calling for scattered thunderstorms. I took my time getting to the tower this morning. Too much time to be honest with you…

When I got there it was already light enough to see in the food plot. It was still foggy at the other end of the food plot where I have been seeing the deer. On to getting the decoy set up… this time I brought the canister so I clipped it to a pine tree. It contained the Black Widow "Doe in Rut" scent. Also, I added something new this morning, "Deer Sense". It came with a collapsible bucket and six attractant sticks and six curiosity scent sticks. I put the bucket right near the decoy’s front leg and broke off some small pine limbs to cover it. All set… I wanted to lure in some bucks.

I went back to the 4-wheeler, put on my backpack and got my Remington 700 and other stuff. It is parked right near the tower. When I got to the ladder steps of the tower I could not continue… my legs would not take me up one step. I prayed for strength and help to get into the tower. I picked up my left leg and set it on the bottom step and then pulled myself up until I was finally in the tower. This is why I have not hunted much the past few years… I never know when my legs will go out on me. I have a new burning desire for hunting this season. Pray that my body will hold out for me, if you will please. I think that many people fail to realize the importance of a gift of just praying for one another. Don’t go out and buy fancy presents… the greatest gift of all is taking the time to talk to Our Heavenly Father for someone. With everything going on in the world today, those prayers are more precious.

The woods are very quiet today. After raining just a bit the sun came out about 11:30 a.m.. I have not seen any deer all day or heard any deer running. At about 5:15 p.m. a doe crossed the food plot.

Thursday, I decided to just try the decoy and the "Deer in Rut" to see what kind of results I would get. When I used the "Deer Sense" the does ran across the food plot without stopping. About 9:15 a.m. three does walked across the food plot. I saw some movement about 10 a.m. at the end of the food plot and through my binoculars I could see the hind legs of a big-bodied deer and that was it for today.

I have been trying to figure out what to do different to bring in the bucks. I decided not to use the decoy but to keep using the "Doe in Rut" scent. Also, I put the scent trail down the middle of the food plot. While I made the trail, I added a new canister down at the far end of the food plot. What I am hoping to do is to get the bucks to follow the scent up the food plot enough for me to get a good shot.

Three does came into the food plot and sniffed around the scent trail that I left… they were there for a good long time. Two more does came in and the first three left. These does were following the scent trail and one of them decided to follow the others. The other doe was sniffing the air and followed it to the end. When she got to the end of the scent trail, she turned left into the woods.

I don’t know what to think since I am not seeing any bucks at all. I have not seen one since I let the eight point walk. I am so exhausted I am dosing in the tower. Danny doesn’t think it has gotten started good yet. I was sure that I would have a buck by now. Now for the last three days I have not seen anything… More later if I have anything exciting to tell…
