The Dream: Part Two

Your eyes are open, but the room is filled with utter darkness.  The only sound is the pounding of your heartbeat.  Your eyes adjust to the darkness and the faint glow from the alarm clock reveals that in two minutes you will be alerted that it is time to get out of bed.  You stare at the ceiling and try to regain your sense of mental calm.  A cold sweat has engulfed you and your breathing is labored.  You reach to shut off the alarm and as your feet touch the floor, you try to recall the details of the dream that has jolted you from slumber.

A twinge of excitement rushes through your body as you splash cold water on your face.  It is refreshing and suddenly all senses are awakened.  The warm towel brushes over your face and your eyes meet those of a determined hunter who is staring back at you.  As you study the reflecting image in the mirror, it seems to be giving you one last “Good luck.”

This day is full of promise.  If everything you expect to happen actually transpires, you may finally reap the reward for all of your hard work.  The months of preparation, the many, many miles you have walked over the land scouting, and the money – oh, all the money that has been spent, will all be worth it.

Your trophy awaits.  Thoughts of the dream flash through your mind as you gather all of your gear.  You haven’t had much sleep, but you are not tired.  Before you could lie down last night, you had to be certain that everything was in order.  There could be no setbacks today.  Your adrenalin has replaced the need for coffee and you are ready for what the day holds.

Today is opening morning.  You pause and gaze around to make sure you have everything.  Your mind is consumed by the images in your dream.  You are determined, focused, driven.  You quickly gather together your gear and venture out into the early morning darkness.  You are ready to make your dream a reality.

“For success, attitude is equally as important as ability.“
